Preface
The Amsterdam Journal of Social Sciences continues to flourish. Since the last (and first-ever) printed edition was published at the end of the academic year 2024/2025 at our annual symposium, many things have changed: a new Board, new Editorial Team members and new events, what persists is the energy of everyone involved.
This ambition for academia beyond ECTS and the idea that stu dents deserve a space to present their work drives the AJSS forward. In the end, we are just a bunch of students interested in academia who meet weekly to discuss niche articles, complex methodologies and theoretical frameworks over some snacks and Capri Suns. This community believes that there is so much to do in order to give students the experience of what the academic world feels like.
In this academic year, we have already hosted the event ‘Beyond Lecture Halls’ in which 3 guest speakers talked about how to publish your Master thesis, how to find a PhD and how to effect real-world impact with your research. And now with this printed edition, we once again highlight important discussions across Social Science disciplines. The symposium for the release offers authors the possibility to also present their research to a live audience in a creative way. These efforts aim to provide a platform for students to see what academia is all about.
Many more events and journal editions will follow, and we hope to empower students to become researchers by continuing this path of the AJSS.
